AOSHS

The American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS) collects, records, preserves, and exhibits memorabilia for closed, current, or newly opened American schools for military families overseas.
We worked with them in 2019 to develop vibrant color palette and logo and developed an interactive WordPress website that includes an online payment system, interactive map, virtual museum, searchable online yearbook database, and digital remembrances section as well as reworked and reorganized SEO and keyword-rich content.

As the website overseer for American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS), we are very happy and satisfied with our choice of hiring Lee Media Group (LMG) to create for us a new website. We had a website that had stumbled for years from its creation in the 70’s to now. Initially it was good but we added and adapted over the years but never truly updated. LMG was always responsive and engaged in communicating with us throughout the process.

The Challenge
The American Overseas Schools Historical Society (AOSHS) collects, records, preserves, and exhibits memorabilia for closed, current, or newly opened American schools for military families overseas. They came to us with a website that was outdated and hindering their mission of expanding their online museum, online yearbooks, membership management, and the digitizing of all things memorabilia/history from closed or current American overseas schools. They were looking for a more interactive WordPress website that not only illustrates their mission to preserve history, but gives members and the public access to digital archives of artifacts, yearbooks, and member stories.
While AOSHS is headquartered in Wichita, KS, AOSHS Board Members are located throughout the nation. Our team held many calls and screen sharing meetings throughout the process to coordinate the progression of the project.

Our Solution
- Brand refresh that included a new color palette and logotype with a fresh, vibrant design for the website to match.
- Integrated online payment system to make it easier for members to pay dues and donate to the organization.
- Searchable online yearbook database with an interactive map that houses thousands of digitized yearbooks from overseas and domestic DoD schools all over the world.
- AWS integration with Amazon AWS for file storage.
- Interactive virtual remembrances to honor individuals, groups, or even events that have been important to AOSHS over the years.
- Reorganized SEO and keyword-rich content.
- Custom dashboard that allows office staff to manage memberships, email members, view reports, send mass email alerts and reminders, and manage yearbooks as they are digitized.
