Lee Media Group Celebrates Small Business Saturday

The Wichita area is full of independently-owned stores and restaurants. To celebrate them, we’re filling a bag with our favorite goodies and YOU COULD WIN the whole thing. If you’re looking to #ShopSmall but not #EatSmall in Wichita, Kansas, TJ’s Burger House is for you. It is my go-to restaurant when I want old fashion fries and a burger. The friendly wait-staff and charming 50’s decor make it a great place to take the family. The Hickory BBQ Burger and Chili Cheese Fries are my favorite! Since I’m a geek at heart, I love shopping anywhere that offers memorabilia from my favorite TV shows and movies. For #ShopSmall Saturday, go check out Hero Complex Games and Entertainment, located at the Brittany Center on North Woodlawn. They have tabletop (board) games, tabletop miniature army games, trading card games, t-shirts, action figures, posters, and much more. I’m donating a Pop! My favorite place to #ShopSmall is Bungalow 26 located in Wichita’s Delano District. Bungalow 26 is a small boutique that carries soaps, jewelry, candles, decorations, and many other things including Field Notes. I never leave home or the office without my Field Notes. They’re the perfect size to carry around with you incase you have a thought that needs to be written down, or a brilliant doodle. I’m donating a three pack of Field Notes to the LMG #ShopSmall bag.

Recently I discovered a lovely #ShopSmall find in Udall, KS. Faye Farms is an old fashioned farm that milks Ayrshire cows, raises hereford hogs and maintains a flock of poultry for meat and eggs. Here’s a pic of some of the treasures I ordered online through their website: Black Raspberry Vanilla, Patchouli and Sandlewood flavored lye soaps. One of my favorite places to #ShopSmall is in Wichita, Kansas. Kernels Popcorn Express makes flavored Gourmet Popcorn. Popcorn has always been in its very own food group ever since I was a kid. It is my true comfort food. The jalapeno flavor from Kernel’s Express is my favorite! I’m donating this one gallon bag of Jalapeno flavored popcorn to the LMG #ShopSmall bag.

In just a few years, The Workroom has quickly become a downtown #shoplocal favorite. Owned by talented spunky entrepreneur, Janelle King, The Workroom is Wichita’s go-to for ICT-inspired merchandise, home goods, and custom draperies. On the Second Saturday of the month, the parking lot is transformed into an Artisan Market featuring tents with other local artists.

I love to #ShopSmall at Prairie Dog Comics in Wichita. I stop in every week to pick up new comics and check out what new collectibles are available. The staff is super-friendly and will help you find what you’re looking for, even if it’s something they don’t currently have. My tail always wags when Ashleigh goes to Coffee with Friends in Rose Hill, KS. She gives me the whipped topping off her frappuccino. They have coffee, lattes, cappuccinos, chai tea, various homemade baked goods, and they serve a different lunch every weekday.
