The technology team at New Covenant Presbyterian Church has been busy, working hard for a long time to get a new site launched. Dale coordinated the efforts of several team members in order to create a new website for a newly renamed/re-organized church. We made several trips to Hutchinson for review and training sessions. The team was forward-thinking and collaborated using Google docs throughout the web design/build project.
The Process
- We did not have an existing website with much content, so we pretty much started from scratch for the website project. We needed to create an organized structure for new content, integrate a logo, create a design and figure out the interaction and functionality we wanted for the site.
- A few on-site visits were made to the church; photo shoots were scheduled and church members, both elders and youth were available for photos and to provide input.
- An initial design was proposed; the logo was reworked and the menu created to match the menu items the group agreed on.
- It was important that the home page allow visitors to provide feedback and be able to easily leave a message. We created a bright pink pop-out tab from the left side of every page on the site.
- A new, custom designed WordPress website was built and coded according to the final design.
- The website was tested with popular browsers and devices.
- A dynamic calendar widget was created and fed into the site from Google.
- WordPress training and review sessions were provided as needed by appointment.
- Possible future enhancements include a special login area for members only.
We look forward to helping the team take the site to the next level with church membership access, and whatever other functionality they decide they need.
